My daughter and I traveled to Peoria,Ill to go to explore this family run shop.This is the most impressive meat shop in central Illinois! With such a variety of fresh cuts of meats and cheeses, as well as other condiments there is something for anyone. Staff is incredibly helpful to educate and inform on cuts of meat and ways to prepare or store them.the meat counters are expensive and arranged in a manner easy to view. They also have a large deli complete with meats,cheeses, and sides. We had the opportunity to meet one of the sons and he was very informative as well as enthusiastic about this amazing family business. The short drive is well worth it. We will be back!

I go to Alwan's a couple of times a month, usually just to get beef fat trimmings, spending under $10. But you would think I was spending thousands with the excellent customer service that I receive. I have to go to the meat counter and ask specifically for this product and they're always so kind and accommodating. One gentleman in particular (he uses an assistive speech device) is just an absolutely charming fellow. Actually everyone that's helped me has been great! Last time I was there I was helped by a young lady who went out of her way to make sure I got the right product, just to my liking. The cashiers are so sweet and polite. I had the most lovely conversation with a woman one morning (we bonded over steak and lipstick.) She made me feel like family. This is a wonderful place; we are so lucky that Peoria has this amazing resource.

What a cool store! So many neat things to choose from and the meat choices are off the charts! Can't wait to try the hearty looking steak and chicken kabobs grilled this evening! We bought Brats too, but I don't eat Bratwurst. Taste reviews will be updated later. UPDATE: The food was absolutely amazing! So glad we tried out the kabobs! Will definitely be buying these again!

This is a really wonderful meat shop! We live in Normal Illinois and stopped in. We have driven by many times and never stopped. At the checkout, we met one of the sons of the owners sons. He was a very personable, friendly man who introduced himself and spoke with us a little while. He suggested some bones for our dog that I believe he's going to really enjoy. He shared that he goes to ISU which is right by us. They have a wonderful selection of meats, lunch meats and quick grab items. We will be taking the trip back from Bloomington/ Normal again! Such a wonderful location!

The best meat market around!! Customer service is top notch! Everything you need in one stop and at great prices! My family has been going to Alwan`s for several generations now and will continue this tradition for generations to come. Remember, the deer processing is top notch also and fast, usually get my deer in 2 days!!! You can't beat Alwan & Sons for all your meat market needs. Simply the best!!! In town visiting family and wanted to find a place for quality meat to enjoy a nice cookout for the holiday weekend. This is the place to shop for quality food in Peoria. Very clean, organized, excellent presentation, prices are solid and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I'm so glad we found Alwan & Sons and will definitely be back! Highly recommend.

This review is to recognize Michelle. When I used to live up here, I regularly visited this place. I recently found a gift card that I lost/forgotten about over 2 yrs ago. I discovered it once I moved out of Peoria. Talked to Michelle about what my options were. She was just the most helpful person, honest and not at all operating on a money-stealing mindset. She's an asset to this place. I have friends and their friends who keep moving up there for work at the hospital. Will def recommend it! I have to add, when I saw my purchase delivered, the way FedEx handled it, I thought all was shattered. She made sure NOTHING could possibly happen it, not even FedEx' lousy handling.
